FAQ

How is LES RÉVÉLATIONS different from other coffee brands ?

LES RÉVÉLATIONS exclusively offers caffeine-free coffee (0.1% caffeine for decaffeinated and 0.6% for naturally low caffeine). Decaffeinated coffee is our specialty, our reason for being, and our passion. To reveal its potential, we take the greatest care at each stage of its development.

Is LES RÉVÉLATIONS coffee guaranteed to be caffeine-free?

According to European regulations applied to France (Decree No. 91-340 of April 3, 1991), the caffeine content must not exceed 0.1% in a decaffeinated coffee. To comply with this regulation, our coffees are freed from caffeine by natural processes and without additives or naturally have a low caffeine content (<0.6%).

Who invented decaffeination?

This is Ludwig Roselius, the founder of the Kaffee Hag brand. In 1903, his cargo of coffee, transported by boat, arrived soaked. The water had eliminated the caffeine from the beans, but without altering the taste of the coffee. To reproduce this phenomenon, Ludwig developed an industrial method. He used a powerful solvent, benzene, which turned out to be carcinogenic. Other methods were then developed.

LES RÉVÉLATIONS, decaffeinated drinks to consume without limits?

All our coffees are decaffeinated in compliance with European standards, which avoids any side effects linked to caffeine. You can therefore drink them day and night and peacefully enjoy their 800 aromatic components. More than wine!

Are LES RÉVÉLATIONS coffees organic?

We offer organic coffees, but not all LES RÉVÉLATIONS coffees are certified organic. Organic certification is an expensive process that is not within the reach of small businesses, even though they are committed to production methods without synthetic inputs.

What decaffeination methods are used?

The decaffeination of our beans is the result of natural methods, without any additives: water and CO2. These techniques eliminate caffeine while preserving the characteristic aromas of our specialty decaffeinated coffees. This is essential when you want to offer gourmet and gourmand coffees without caffeine.

How are LES RÉVÉLATIONS decafs roasted?

We entrust the beans of our decaffeinated coffees to an expert roaster, certified Q Grader. Equipped with a Loring S35, the Rolls Royce of roasting, it combines cutting-edge technology and artisanal know-how. It thus reveals the aromatic personality of each of our decaffeinated coffees. LES RÉVÉLATIONS offers freshly roasted coffees, a guarantee of superior aromatic quality.

How to choose my coffee?

LES RÉVÉLATIONS focuses exclusively and passionately on caffeine-free coffees. Our decaf collections offer a wide range of aromas and flavors that adapt to all tastes and different preparation methods. Freshly roasted, our coffees guarantee a tasting at the top of their qualities for at least 3 months

How to properly store my coffee?

In beans or ground, it is best to keep coffee away from light, humidity and heat. Even once opened, our packaging allows for perfect conservation. Simply remove the air before closing the bag. You can consume LES RÉVÉLATIONS up to 10 months after the roasting date, however their aromas and flavors are at their peak in the 3 months following roasting.

What is the advantage of whole bean coffee?

Coffee beans oxidize less quickly than ground coffee. But they require a manual or electric coffee grinder to grind them. Freshly ground coffee releases its full aromatic profile. Another advantage: grinding your own coffee allows you to adapt the grind size to the type of preparation chosen.

What are the preparation tips for LES RÉVÉLATIONS?

For each of our coffees, we offer some basic preparation rules to obtain a harmonious drink. Then, each coffee lover is free to play with these rules to find the recipe that best suits their personal tastes.

What happens to the caffeine that is removed from green coffee?

It's all well and good to remove the caffeine from green coffee. But what do you do with it afterwards? Well, it's often sold to energy drink manufacturers who use it to boost their product. Nothing goes to waste!

Coffee, an art?

The art of precision: For Beethoven, the perfect coffee had exactly 60 beans per cup.

The art of excess: Balzac drank up to 50 cups of coffee a day to keep up with the hectic work pace he imposed on himself every day.

The Art of Derision: Around 1734, Johann Sebastian Bach composed his “Coffee Cantata,” a profane and comic cantata to mock coffee addiction, a drink that was all the rage in Europe at the time.

The art of the table: in the 19th century, coffee changed status, it was no longer reserved for an elite and came to close the lunch ritual. Great painters such as Pierre Auguste Renoir and Édouard Manet then represented it in their paintings. Class!

The art of diversion: For several years, coffee has been the raw material of choice for Italian artist Giulia Bernardelli. She uses it instead of ink to create beautiful works of art that she shares on her Instagram account.
